What should people’s relation to the world and ‘outer space’ be now and in the future? Are changes needed in our theoretical and political understandings and categories that we work with? Scholars in the humanities and social scientists are increasingly developing and drawing on planetary metaphors; what do these metaphors mean for anthropology and ethnographic practice?
This will be an online, semi-informal workshop where we will exchange our ideas about the planetary and discuss its potential, limits and significance for the changing world and for our research and theoretical practices going forward.
